University council
This council is considered one of the most important boards in decision-making about the general policies of the university, which is composed of presidential board, deans of the faculties, managers of dependent research-educational complexes, and two representatives from the councils of research and education, as well as postgraduate studies center.
Its duties:
    1-      Approving the local procedures of the council as well as the procedures of its inner committees.
    2- Surveying and confirming the establishment of new educational departments and preparing their plan in order to propose to the ministry of Science, Research, and Technology.
    3- Approving short term research and educational plans, and determining student admission capacity according to the facilities of the university while considering the development plan of the country.
    4- Considering the ways of cooperating with state and private institutions, and determining some regulations for them.
    5- Checking the research and educational problems of the university, and presenting necessary solutions for them.
    6- Surveying and approving the proposed schemes and plans of specialized councils, and considering the agenda proposed by the president such as scientific facilities (equipment and man-power)of the university, deficiencies, classification of research-scientific needs, provision, and the evaluation of university functions.
